Whosoever Godcast #32: David Hayward

Artist and author David Haywood has been writing and drawing cartoons at his Naked Pastor blog since 2005. He left the professional ministry in 2010, partly in response to his controversial drawings and musings, to dedicate himself to his art, writing and creating community for others who have felt abused and abandoned by the traditional church. He has just released a new book called The Art of Coming Out: Cartoons for the LGBTQ Communitythat feature more than 100 of his sketches about the LGBTQ community and religion.

Whosoever Godcast #31: Evangelicals for Marriage Equality

A new group called Evangelicals for Marriage Equality has as new vision for the evangelical church in America -- one where LGBT Christians are welcome, just as they are.

In this Godcast, we talk with EME spokesman Brandan Robertson about their vision for the church and how they imagine dialogue with the anti-gay factions in the church can bring this about.

Also, I'll tell you how you can be a part of the new Whosoever Community and an upcoming e-course based on my book Bulletproof Faith: A Spiritual Survival Guide for Gay and Lesbian Christians.

Whosoever Godcast #30: Bishop Gene Robinson

Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson has used his experiences, and his high position, to pen a new book, God Believes in Love: Straight Talk About Gay Marriage, that seeks to answer the ten most popular questions he has heard about marriage equality for gay and lesbian people. In the book, he tackles questions like why marriage is even an issue for LGBT people, why straight people should support it and why civil unions, while they are a good first step, simply won't be enough to satisfy the LGBT community.

Whosoever Godcast #29

The United States is currently in the throes of a spiritual awakening, according to author Diana Butler Bass. In her new book "Christianity After Religion," Bass says we are at a crossroads in history. We can choose to move forward into new emerging spiritualities, or we can heed the siren sound of the traditionalists calling us back to a romanticized past where rigid roles have offered security for the powerful and the status quo for everyone else.

Whosoever Godcast #28

Jay Bakker is the son of famous television evangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. He grew up on the PTL (or Praise the Lord) club, and suffered terribly when his parents empire fell. Turning to drugs and partying eased the pain for awhile, but now Jay is out with a new book that describes not so much his fall from grace, but his fall to grace. Jay explains his grace evolution to us.

Whosoever Godcast #27

It's not everyday that a book comes along that literally saves your life, but Dr. Jack Rogers says he's heard that comment more than once about his book Jesus, the Bible, and Homosexuality, Revised and Expanded Edition: Explode the Myths, Heal the Church. A new expanded and revised version of the book has been released and we'll check in with Dr. Rogers on what's new in this extraordinary book.

Also, back in August, my partner Wanda and I got married. We went to Canada to tie the knot legally. I'll give you my thoughts on the spiritual experience I had standing in line at city hall.

Whosoever Godcast #26

Imagine a world where the gay people are in the majority and straight people were the oppressed minority. Author and poet J.G. Woodward has imagined such a scenario in her new book "Over the Course of a Lifetime."

Playwright and actor Peterson Toscano is famous for his play "Doing Time in the Homo Nomo Halfway House" that skewers ex-gay ministries. Now, he's turned his queer eye on the Bible where he sees many transgender characters

Hear more from both J.G. and Peterson and, we wrap it up with a little holy humor.
